about me

Who am I?

I am a 33 year old tech enthusiast currently who is currently living in Canada, but will be moving to Japan in March of 2024 for work. I graduated with a BA from the University of Victoria in British Columbia and have previously lived in the United States and Japan. I am proponent of Free Software and run distributions of the GNU/Linux operating system on my personal computers whenever possible. For ethical reasons, I implore others to do the same, though I realize this isn't always practical. In my free time I enjoy photography (though I am not very good at it) and reading. I also enjoy film, two of my favorite movies being Mulholland Dr. by David Lynch and End of Evangelion by Anno Hideaki.

My Computer:

I currently use a 2023 Asus Zephyrus G16 running Arch Linux as my main computer. I chose this notebook because I was able to purchase it at a steep discount, though normally I try to avoid computers with NVidia GPUs as they do not always play well with GNU/Linux in general. In addition, I have an M1 MacBook Air running MacOS 14, and a small Beelink Mini S running Debian which I use as a home server and Plex box.
